I am having problems sewing a stretch fabric. I am using a stretch needle but the thread is not stitching.

check out the basics; are you sure your machine is adjusted properly, does it still stitch correctly on woven material?
Are your needle and bobbin threaded correctly?
Is your "stretch needle" the right size for your cloth; there are differences beyond just the point?
Is your thread right for your needle; not too heavy nor too thin?
