SEWING WITH INVISIBLE THREAD

Linda_H | Posted in The Archives on

I have never used invisible thread before. I am planning to use it to attach lace and gold trim to a Christmas tree skirt so the thread won’t show on top. I need to know if I should use the invisible thread only on top with another thread in the bobbin or do you use the invisible thread in both the top and the bobbin? Also, is there anything else I should know before using it, such as, does it need a special needle, etc.? Thanks.

I have owned the same spool of invisible thread for years. You may wish to buy some thread to match your lace, and go with that. Invisible thread tends to pucker. In my opinion, it's not worth the trouble, for what effect it might add to the project

*You might try loosening the upper tension and use regular thread in the bobbin. Use regular needle suitable for your fabric. Sew on a practice piece until you get a good stitch. Monofilament (invisible) thread is great! Good luck.
