sewing with very slippery fabric HELP!!

I read the info posted on Threads re sewing mock French seams but how does one prevent the seams from stretching as you work with it? I am making a flared gored skit with an sheer overlay and have had poor luck previously when the seams don’t hang properly. I also read that someone suggested using a fabric stabilizer. Is it a spray and do you wash it out after sewing Suggestions???
Thanks

sewing with very slippery fabrics
I don't know if the following suggestions will help but these are a few techniques I've used in the past. First, have you tried hand basting the seams? Also, can you keep the fabric level with the machine bed so there is no drag which will distort? Also, do you have differential feed on your machine? If not, try the ease plus technique (place your forefinger behind the presser foot and let the fabric slightly gather behind it). Good luck!

Thanks for your help.
Seams stretching
Seams usually are stretched by the pressure foot tension; there's usually a dial or lever (somewhere on the left side of the machine, above the presser foot and needle) that allows you to make that pressure stronger or lighter.
On slippery, stretchy, or bias seams, you need to set the pressure foot to minimal pressure and lightly guide the fabric through. Try a few samples, and you'll see a great difference in the seam. If you can't find the tension adjustment, check out the machine manuals or "how to " online.
Of course, you also want to use a small needle and play with the thread tension, too, but the presser foot is the key.
