shoulder to bust strain line

swimmer | Posted in Fitting on

I’m trying to make a simple sleeveless bodice and every time I make the muslin there’s a strain line (and extra/flapping fabric) running from the shoulder to the bust. I’ve already narrowed the chest and still have it! Otherwise it fits everywhere else. It’s driving me crazy! Any suggestions? It’s a size 16 and I wear a B cup. My bust is 38″ and my upper chest is 37″. I’m very broad through the shoulders.

Are you sure that you are "wearing" your bust line where you should be. So many of the bridal party bust problems are solved by hiking the bust up into the fullness of the dress. Shortening your bra straps just a tiny bit may help solve your problem. It also gives you a real midrif that takes l0 lbs off.
