I don’t hop in here on a regular basis. A few weeks may go by and when I try to get in, the website doesn’t recognize my email and password even when i know I’ve given the correct info. I keep having to create a new account and this is getting to be a hassle to try and remember which name and password I’m up to now. What am I missing?

I've had this problem, too. I keep a notebook with all my IDs and passwords, but today I had to change to a new password because this site didn't recognize the previous one.
I use a postit to help me remember my signin information. Since the Threads forum doesn't link to any private information, I don't have to keep it private or worry about anyone else knowing my login name or password, but I could keep it in my purse if I were using a public computer.
This forum will "remember" your login information only if you request it to and only if your computer is set to allow cookies, which most security systems advise against; logging in each time you visit is the safest alternative.
