Silk thread

SewNancy | Posted in General Discussion on

Does anyone have an explanation for size on silk thread?  I have seen letters listed but have no clue what  to what they refer.  Help, please.

    Nancy,

Here is a link with some information on silk thread weights.  I have ordered buttonhole weight silk for hand finished buttonholes from Thingsjapanese and was very pleased with their quality.

Thread weight systems are explained here:

A collection of information on thread is found on:

http://lacefairy.com/ under "Lacemaking", then "FAQs", then "Thread Info."

While researching online for you, I also found an interesting glossary of terms related to silk fabric at:

    http://silkery.com/terms.html

    Enjoy!
