Yes, you are. Serial sites are all about software. This serial number is for a mechanical device, an old Singer sewing machine. Made long before computers were a thing. Are you looking to buy this machine?

Yes but only if I could find when and where it was made - a bit of history. The ISMACS International
site http://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-n-series-serial-numbers.html list singer machines back to 1880's just not this one. I will keep searching, the seller found this number on the bottom of the machine, The point you make about the possibility that it is a part number of an item an not the machine serial number is a good one - thanks

      Cheers Michael

Michael, I don't really know anything about the serial numbers but I did look at the website you showed. Wouldn't your serial number be included in the 5th entry down? It goes from 49001 to 64000 and yours is 53029.
