I was given a Singer 514. It still works, but needs some TLC. And I think I am not threading it right. The thread throws big loops on the underside of the fabric.
Anybody out there has a manual I could copy. Or instructions how to thread it correctly

Try this site to see if they have threading instructions for your machine. http://www.sewusa.com Cathy

Hi
Thanks for that
That site is just amazing. It hasn't got the 514 but the 518 looks exactly like it

I hope you found it helpful. Some machines have similar enough threading paths to figure it out. Cathy
Hiya!
Yeah, sewusa.com is terrific, eh? I'm glad you found them.
If you want more info, you can order a manual from Singer for $15.00:
http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html - just type in the model number to get the exact manual.
Enjoy your older machine - they're so solidly built. You'll get a lot of good times out of that machine!
Happy sewing!
:) Mary
Check out the Sears Manage My Home site. If they sold that model, you may be able to get a downloadable manual for free. (I spent an hour trying to find one to buy before I discovered that it was there just for the finding!)
Thanks for that. Have you got a web site address. Or could you send me the link please

It's http://www.managemyhome.com. There's a registration required, but you can request not to be on any emailing or promotional lists. Within the site, you do a search for Sewing Machine manual plus your machine name and model number.
Thanks very much for the info
Anna
