Singer Quantum Futura II opinion needed

mamamarylou | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

This is my first time in Gatherings.  I have been sewing since High School 1970 but only once in a while and just for the family.

I am interested in creating my own embroidery designs and would like an honest opinion of the Singer Quantum Futura II.  I don’t have much money to spend and I don’t want to waste my money if the machine doesn’t work well.

I have a Viking Freesia 425 and love it.  I was given a Singer machine from Walmart one Christmas and hated using it.  Once I bought the Viking all I think about is sewing and quilting.

Thank you all in advance for any help you can offer me.

I'm interested in hearing opinions about this machine too. I think the concept of separating the sewing machine and the software makes sense. You do need to have a computer but I keep thinking why try to squeeze a computer in a sewing machine when you have a powerful one in most pcs and laptops. There are a couple of reviews at http://www.patternreview.com that might be helpful to start. The Vikings are wonderful, after a good machine it is just about impossible to step down. Maybe there is a dealer nearby where you could test drive the Futura?
