Hi, I recently found one of the classic old-style singers in a charity shop, and want to date it. I have found 2 different lists of serial numbers/dating databases and been through every number but mine isnt on there. It’s an F8833626. Were knock-offs common with singers ? It definitely has the singer trademark metal plate on it, should I assume it’s a copy or is there other ways I could tell? I don’t care at all about it’s worth, just interested & planning to get it in working order with my spare time off college 🙂 thank you

Singer serial number databases give you ranges, not specific numbers. So, according to this site (https://ismacs.net/singer_sewing_machine_company/serial-numbers/singer-f-series-serial-numbers.html), your machine was made in Clydebank, Scotland in July/December of 1910. (It falls between F-873445 and F-993444). And it's a model 28K.
