OK, I am not a novice sewer – I’m intermediate going toward advanced. I’ve made lots of gorgeous things and I am making a coat with a single welt pocket from a Burda pattern and the first side came out awful!!! I don’t know what I did but the edges are sloppy and the little triangles don’t want to stay in place. Having made lots of double welt pockets I find it amazing that I can’t conquer a single welt. I’d like some help – this coat is an experiment made out of inexpensive fabric but I’d still like to wear it. Does anyone have some really good instructions/video suggestions on how to do a great, neat single welt pocket? Thanks.

has instructions with pictures but I can't follow them as I am pocket challenged. They also have them for double welt, lined patch and side pockets. Hope this helps.
Is this applied or inset? On the applied single welt you have to make the opening on top smalller thana the bottom, a trapazoide if you will. Sandra Betzina has great, easy instructions in her book.

They're inset and finding instructions is very hard.
Power Sewing has great instructions as does Claire Schaeffer's book set in any pocket. Both are worth buying.
Good luck
Nancy: I checked the Power Sewing book (I have all Sandra B's books) but her instructions weren't for a set in pocket. I'm going to buy Claire Schaeffer's book and I ordered a book on welt pockets from Judy Burlap.
Judy Barlup's single welt pocket instructions are what saved my sanity.
If you've got back issues of Threads, look for her "envelope welt".
Otherwise, you can get the booklet of instructions from her website, http://www.uniquetechniques.com

I'm new to this site, but read your inquiry on single welt pockets. I have tried every method and decided that the easiest and best method is in Sew Smart (I got in on eBay) by Judy Lawrence and Clotilde Yurick.
