sofa throw pillows

user-160615 | Posted in General Discussion on

I want to recover some sofa throw pillows. I will be using mens’cotton x-large bandana-type handkerchiefs. Am wondering if I should line the handkerchief fabric fist & what should I use? Could/should I use an iron-on? I have w/d them already, so am ready to proceed. Thank you in advance for your help. pinecone.Jan

It depends on how much 'throwing' will be done to your throw pillows! If they are just going to sit there and look pretty, you might not need to line them at all!

Cotton bandanas will last a few years, maybe! But not if the kids are going to play with these pillows.

do you need to mask the color of what ever is under the bandana? then line it with black cloth (washed several times first!!)

Do you want to stiffen the cotton bandana cloth by using iron on interfacing? that is an option!

    Hope this is somewhat helpful?

I like to use a soft  fusable interfacing with my toss pillow covers.  It helps them keep thier shape, less wrinkling and shifting, covers whatever is underneath and helps keep new pillows cleaner.  I have dogs and it seems the dog hair does not get into the fabric as easily with this method.  Mary
