All the major dress pattern companies and the independents do not satisfy me. Does anybody know of a European country (France comes to mind) that makes dress patterns that are more advanced?

Try Marfy they are Italian. Very sophisticated. They have a website, http://www.marfy.com I think or Google them. I have not sewn from them, only looked at the website. Threads has been reviewing them for a while. I like the Burda magazine patterns. They are more current than their pattern book. YOu can get a sample subscription, check the back of Threads in the ads. Also, have you looked at Neue Mode? The Sewing Place sell them and has a complete view on line. They have some very nice patterns and the fit is excellent.

I have sewed with patterns from Burda magazines for about thirty years or more and they are great.Very good fitting but you have to get used to them , they don´t have seam allowances included. but they are multisized and on every issue they have many patterns you can copy so they are very cheap. There are also patterns for plus sizes and children.
The Marfy website is http://www.marfy.it
You might also look at the Japanese magazine/pattern book entitled "Mrs. Stylebook". Unfortunately, they do not have a website, but you can probably locate one from an international bookstore.
