   I have purchased Italian shirting from Fabricationsonline.com and been quite pleased with the quality.  Haberman Fabrics also has some very nice Italian shirting.  I have had swatches sent from each store and their customer service both over the phone and in person has always been fantastic.  Each also has a store if you are anywhere near the southern part of Michigan.  Happy hunting!

   I haven't ordered from them before so I can't vouch for the fabrics or customer service.  It also looks like you can't really order online but they do have some nice looking cottons and it seems like most of their fabrics are half off just now.  Let us know what you find out here - I'd like a nice source for cottons, too.

   Michael's Fabrics has a very good reputation according to reviewer's on "PatternReviews". The owner, Michael can be called by prospective customers to discuss their needs. The website can be ordered from and their is a big 50% off sale going on currently.

   Good to know Kathy.  I didn't see an online shopping cart though, but then again, I didn't look very hard.  It just looked like there were a couple of ways to order but online didn't seem to be one of them.  Thank you for letting me know!  Their fabrics really did look nice and half off is always good!

   You are welcome. I do most of my fabric shopping online because of the poor quality of fabric in my city. We do have lots of quilt fabric stores with many top notch cottons but only one store that offers decent other fabrics.

   Recently http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com had a sale on shirting. That particular group of fabrics aren't a featured sale item right now, but they are having a general sale currently -- 15% off with a $40 minimum???? Look at their website for the details,and get on their email list.

   I have bought fabric from them several times, and I like the quality and the customer service.  I live in the St Louis area where they are located, so I just go by their office to pick it up rather than paying shipping charges.  You can call and ask questions, and they are very helpful. Also, I believe they will accept returns of fabric you don't like, as long as it isn't cut or washed.  I would suggest ordering some 1/8 yd samples to make sure you like the color, hand, etc. My only problem has been that they don't normally label each fabric when cut, so if you order two different product numbers with the same description (tan cotton RR123 and tan cotton WW345) you may not be able to tell which is which.  If you specifically request the cuts to be labelled that eliminates the problem, but I've never asked about their policy on that.  Sometimes the descriptions can be the same for several fabrics, but they have different weights/hand/drape/etc -- another reason to get samples! These are not criticisms aimed just at Fashion Fabrics -- buying from any online fabric store has the same issues!

   You're right, Fashion fabrics club does have a lot of shirting.  They just don't seem to carry any high end shirting fabrics like 2-ply Egyptian cotton that I'm looking for.  Thanks for the suggestion though, I appreciate it :) !!!!

   Michael and his wife Sherri are the best! Their wools, linens, and cottons are to die for, extremely high quality, and you would not believe how helpful they are and how good their service is.

   They have fabrics that are not shown on the website (although there are several fine shirtings there now), so do not hesitate to give them a call and describe what you are looking for. You will have found a gold mine.

   When I lived in CT this was the best place for shirting fabric, they have a great selection, you can call them and tell the clerk what you are looking for. When I would go there you had to have permission to go downstairs where they had the shirtings. great quality and choices... I used to make all of my husbands shirts he's tall and thin 37"sleeve.

   Men's shirting fabric

   One place that has outstanding shirt fabric (plus other fabric for men and women's garments) is B. Black and Sons.  They are surprisingly inexpensive, but you do get very high quality.  They also have great tailoring and other hard to find supplies you may need.

   If you go to the bottom of the any page on the site, you can choose all sorts of fabrics from silk matka to wool flannel.  There are some listed here that are do not show on the side of the page where you think they would be.  I find you need to search the site since I find new items that have not shown up elsewhere you would expect.  The site is not large so it isn't hard to go through it.

   Shipping prices are reasonable.  A recent $600 order cost $16.95 for shipping.
