source for tubular elastic

Deeom | Posted in General Discussion on

I have been wandering all around the internet looking for a source for heavy round upholstery type elastic.  Our outdoor recliner has the fabric body attached to the metal frame by this type of elastic.  It is about the size of my little finger in diameter.  After wasting hours searching, it occurred to me that this is the best place for help in my search.  Can anybody help me?  Deeom

The size you describe reminds me of the bungee cords that I use for my art and craft show set ups.  You could check at hardware type stores.  Or do searches for bungee cords.  Some of the outdoor canopy companies sell them.  Sorry that I don't have any specific companies.

Thanks for the time and effort.  Thanks to you and Meg calling the "tubular elastic" by the name bungee cord, I have a lead on a source for that and they will send a sample.  This is really a wonderful and helpful group of gals!!!!!

Would you consider psoting the source you used and your response to the received sample?

I received samples from two companies.  The elastic is called shock cord or bungee cord.  The companies are Outdoor Wilderness Fabrics and Beacons Fabrics and notions.  I ordered from Outdoor Wilderness even though the samples were the same.  There was something else I wanted to order from Outdoor Wilderness.   They both answered quickly.

You're welcome.  It is not often that I get to give any information.  I'm usually the one asking questions 'Kinda a nice feeling!!!

Thanks for responding.  I really appreciate that.  I went to the indicated website and found they only have bungee cord hooks.   However, after reading my two responses, I now know what to look for.  Deeom
