Hello All,
My neices have requested scarves, ready for wearing from the onset of winter. I am wondering if any one can tell me how to knit spirals? I’ve seen them done, cant find any reference in any of my books. Any help at all will be much appreciated.

You may find something here

or this from Lion Brand, but you need to use the specific yarn to achieve the ruffled effect

Katina,
please accept my thanks for your prompt reply.

You're very welcome - have fun
Use a long needle (circular, but you will be knitting flat), cast on a number of stitches, over 100 or more, knit one row. Every second row knit and purl into each stitch. So:
Row 1: knit
Row 2: knit into front and back of each stitch, (makes two out of one)
Row 3: knit
Row 4: as row 2. Continue until you run out of yarn leaving enough to cast off, or until you have the width you desire. This makes cascading spirals. Use a soft yarn.
