I have made a rayon light-weight sleevless dress with a square neckline. I prefer not to use facing. Any suggestions on how to finish using a self fabric bias. On a round neckline I have no problem, but not sure how to handle the square corners and how to stabalize the neckline.
*I do this all the time, but it will be difficult to describe without drawings, but here goes: I use single-layer binding. Stitch to the corner. Here, you will have to do a reverse miter, which means that you'll have excess fabric in the very center of the binding. You need to stitch a little L-shaped seam that goes across the width of only the center of the binding (do not sew into the area that becomes the turned-under edge.) It will look like a little roof peak in the middle of the binding. You may need to clip it, depending on the weight of your fabric. I highly recommend some practice on scraps! As for stabilizing the neckline: see if you can use straight grain (not bias)binding in the square neckline area. I often piece straight grain binding to bias binding when I need a stabilizing in one area and stretch in another. Example: when a neckline is square in the front, but round in the back.
