Stained Dress

Amber_Z | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

I bought a dress and got great discount because it had a little stain. Unfortunately the dry cleaner doesn’t feel comfortable washing it. The lady at the store said she didn’t know what it from. So I have a dress stained with who knows what and I need it ready for Jan.20th. Any ideas on how I can safely attack this problem at home? I’m open to any suggestions. Thanks, Amber Oh yeah I believe the fabric is acetate.

I have had outstanding results removing difficult stains with the pre-wash stain STICK products from Shout and Spray and Wash and the Shout travel packettes. I have used them on washable and dry cleanable items (yellow mustard on pink wool jersey; machine grease on pale- blue wool crepe; fountain-pen ink on aqua cotton knit among others). When done on things taken to the dry cleaners, I always let them know what I have done. Have yet to be disappointed. Have not been as successful using other forms of the same products (like spray, gel or liquid). What scares me about your dilemma is "acetate" - generally not a good idea to mix with water - too many risks re color change, shrinkage or textural changes.

*I sent it to my aunt's in sask. She's been a dry cleaner for forever. If she can't do it, no one can. Corny, but true. I'll remember your advice for any other stains. Thanks!
