stainproofing products?

msm | Posted in General Discussion on

trying to make DH’s newest additions to his work wardrobe last a bit longer. he’s a teacher and frequently gets ink stains on his pants around the pockets (he’s SO bad about putting the caps back on pens).
my neighborhood drycleaner does not provide this service. i have also looked for scotchguard in stores and can’t find it anywhere. has it been taken off the market? does anyone know of any preventative measures to protect pants and shirts? thanks-

I just got some Scotchgard at Walmart. It was in the laundry detergent section.

thanks. sounds like there's hope to find scotchguard!
i'll keep looking though, as we boycott walmart (no offense anyone)-

The other thing to think about is how to handle the ink after it happens.  If the ink is ball point ink get the cheapest hairspray you can find and spray the ink spot like crazy and give it a rub before throwing in the washer.  If the ink is Sharpie marker use waterless hand sanitizer as there is enough rubbing alcohol in there to remove the ink. Sometimes you may have to use a stain remover afterwards but that should be all you will have to worry about.
