Steampress cleaning?

SisterT | Posted in Equipment and Supplies on

I have a new steam press (…new toy!) –I was fusing a bunch of interfacing to silk pieces, not using pressing cloths and not paying attention to the mess that I was making on the plate.  Oops!

What can I use to get the icky mess off the plate without ruining the finish?

I have good luck getting fusible residue off the soleplate of my iron with nail polish remover.  You would use it on a cold iron.  Good Luck!

Also try a product called Iron-off by Dritz it is a hot iron cleaner and I have had a lot of success with it.

Thanks--a new brain and an attention span would help too!  Yesterday I managed to fuse a piece of interfacing to the plate.  Buy stock in Dritz, people!  :)

We have all been there and done that before and will probably do it again.  Good luck.  Also I have already invested in lots of companies Dritz, Vogue, JoAnn's, and Pellon to name just a few.  You can see my investments all around my sewing room.
