Hello,
I am altering a pair of ready-made pants sewn from a four-way stretch synthetic leather fabric. When I first put them on the fit is perfect but after a short time they have sagged, bagged and the waist is even loose…they are fully lined with regular lining fabric and are a loose-ish fit not skin tight. For the waist I am planning to insert a stiff elastic the width of the band and the proper waist size. I am about to stitcht the center back seam and am wondering if I should use a small zig-zag, a regular stitch or even apply a tape to eliminate stretching. Your input and experience will be appreciated.
Thank you
Ladyjay

I have sewn with a fair amount of this lately and I really think it is the nature of the beast. You could try stay taping your crotch and waist seams but other than that I am not sure there is any other answer. Do you sit at work most of the day? Point being perhaps these would be good for more standing situations than sitting. Wish I could be of more help.

Thank you for your response. Stay taping had occured to me and that is what I will do...as well as wearing them in "standing room only" situations. They look so sharp initially...the kind of pant you want to wear everywhere and then they turn into an ill-fitting mess. As you say, I think it is the nature of the beast...on to more friendly fabrics.
