task lighting

I just got a new sewing machine and want to sew all the time but my eyes are giving out before the rest of me. What are some lighting solutions that can prevent eye strain? How many watts? What kind of light–florescent? incandescent?

When I did my sewing room I put in track lighting on the ceiling with movable halogen lights. The big problem - they generate a lot of heat and, even if you have air conditioning, they make it very uncomfortable to sew during the summer days.

I would really recommend one of the Ott lights that you see advertised in Threads. It puts out a true light. I have the desk or table top model. I also take it with me when I go to workshops.
