Thank You Threads!

Vick | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

I couldn’t be happeir with Threads!  I really apperciate the return of the vintage back page.  I always loved looking at the back page. Its always been intresting to me to wonder about the lifestyles of the people who bought and wore the fashions of the past. Those who created the designs, the people who sewed the items. And if they bought the items in a store or if they were made custom. Something I havn’t seen on the back page yet are the clothing of specfic trades of the past.  Keep up the fine work found in Threads. Now that you have restored the Famous Back Page along with the great articals, well, its going to be hard to futher improve such a fine publication!

Thank you, Vickie M

Yes, the back page is one of my favourite features too, it is the first place I look and really absorb.

I agree. Amber, if you're reading this, thank you, thank you, thank you! What a terrific issue, and I couldn't be happier to see the lovely back cover come back. I have halfway enjoyed recent issues, flipped through them and shelved them, but this one I have carried with me everywhere the last couple of days and have felt so inspired that I have dropped out of a weekend of boating with neighbors to stay home and sew.

At the risk of being redundant, I agree completely.  Many thanks, Amber, for bringing back the focus on beautifully constructed garments on the back cover.  Cynthia

I love the new / old back page.  It has always been a touch of class and so glad to see it return in all its glory.  Thanks

I agree the back of the book is nice but I like the Quick to Make section. That section always have something that I can whip up for a gift like the aprons in the Threads September issue. I have used this section to make gifts that I really would not have thought about on a short notice. Don't get me wrong, I do like vintage fashions. I have a large picture selection of fashions that were removed from actual vintage magazines starting in the 1800's. I design doll clothes for my daughter's collection of dolls like Gene, Paris and others. It is helpful to see the vintage patterns used in today's fashions because some of the fashions are not so easy to figure out how they are made.

I also looked forward to the Quick to Make section and used many of them.  So nice to be able make something of quality simply and quickly.

It will be a while before I get my copy - I can hardly wait. It really seems we're getting our old Threads back. Thank you, Amber, thank you.

These postings literally brought tears to my eyes. When I first arrived here, I knew we had a big challenge. My mother is a charter subscriber and she gave me lots of "opinions", along with those posted here. With her honest feedback and yours, I think that we've turned a corner! Thanks so much to all of you, as I could not have done this without your guidance.... :-)

Amber - you most certainly HAVE turned a corner. The last few issues were starting to show a bit of spark - but now with the very latest issue (which I just received in the Uk today) you and the team have well and truly brought the magazine back to top form !  For the first time in ages I felt  excited and inspired - and thats only after a very quick flick- through.  I' m really looking forward to settling down for a read later on . Not only that - it has put me in the mood to do some serious sewing.   I love the photography, the content, the overall look - EVERYTHING !

I agree with the other writers that this last issue is much more interesting.  The subjects seemed more challenging and imaginative than I've seen in recent years.  Thank you for listening to your devoted readers and not just dismissing them.  You understood they weren't just complaining about change but about genuinely missing a quality they'd grown to expect.  Thank you again.

That's so nice to hear! Thank you!

I also want to reassure all in advance, as this is a question that will surely arise as we end the Sew Stylish subscription. We plan to continue to serve newer  audiences with special issues and other content. The return to classic Threads will remain as it is.
