Thanks for all your help!

CLS | Posted in General Sewing Info on

Hi! CLS from Cooks Talk here. I popped in a while ago to get help with a Halloween costume, and several of you were kind enough to assist. So, as promised, I’m here to tell you the results were ADORABLE, I got many compliments on it, and to post a little photo of the results…

*I know it's pretty amateur compared to all of the things ya'll do, but it was my first attempt at a costume and I was so pleased with how it came out! I used an old fuzzy yellow sleeper that I got at a second-hand store for $1, cut the legs off, trimmed the zipper and hemmed the legs. Sewed felt stripes all the way around, added 3/4" black pompoms to the neck and wrists. For the hat I used an old black watch cap that I attached wavy pipe-cleaners to and hot-glued large pompoms to the ends. He also wore black tights and black double-rolled socks. For the wings - well, that was a challenge. I tried wire covered with stocking mesh, I tried all sorts of things. Mostly the problem was getting them to stay on him and also being easily removable for my husband to be able to put him in his car seat for a ride to Grandma & Grandpas.I finally hit on this solution - craft foam. Made a template, cut it out, traced the "veins" on both sides of the foam in black, then used black silk chord hot glued around the edges and to outline the veins. Attachment was accomplished by using small velcro strips and a button - I need the button to keep the wings from drooping too much, and the velcro just to keep them on.ANYWAY - just wanted to thank you. You all are so helpful. I should have looked you up when I made his crib bumper and bedskirt. I'll definitely be back if I run into any other problems with things. Thanks!

*You did a wonderful job! what a cutie. Whatever you do, never throw the costume away. My kids still enjoy all their costumes from over the years, even the ones that don't fit they enjoy just having them.So....what can you do for my cooking?

*I am saving it! It's just too cute. What do you need done about your cooking? I'd be happy to help. Come on over to Cooks Talk - we are all in the midst of planning for the busy holiday season. THanksgiving and Christmas are especially busy, interesting times over there. As long as you don't mention velveeta or cream of ____ soup, you are pretty safe! You just have to like to eat, be interested in learning, and be willing to try new things - Come on over - we'd love to have you!

*Gosh, this costume is adorable. And he looks pleased....I think he knows how cute he is in it! That's what makes kids' costumes so much fun.Nice work! Very creative solution for the wings, too. Thanks for posting the photo so we can see how well it turned out.
