The New “Sew Stylish” website

Cherrypops | Posted in Feedback on Threads on

This is a great website. Works in association to the Magazine ‘Sew Stylish’, available now. So many exciting ‘blogs’, magazine extras, website links. Sign up to the newsletter and receive a free gift (For a Limited Time).

To view the site go to Taunton.com homepage and click on Threads to get to the Threads homepage. Look for the link to ‘be sewstylish’ and click or click here www.besewstylish.com

I will be dividing my time between the ‘gatherings’ discussions and this new site.

I am so looking forward to receiving my magazine in the letterbox.

Thanks to all at Taunton/Threads.

Kind Regards,

CherryPops

Thanks for sharing the address and comments about this new website. I am on my way to it as soon as I post this note.

You are very welcome WandaJ. Enjoy.....I loved seeing the Staff Photos and reading the Diary. So much work and effort is put into the new magazine. Was also wonderful to see the photos of the new girls with smiling faces. Shows they do love their position in the company.

    Hi Cherrypops,
Thanks for the referral except that when I tried the site the response was "invalid". I'll try it again and then try googling but just thought you should know. Z

That happened to me when I just clicked the link.  Then I typed it in and clicked and got it.

      1. Cherrypops | | #6

Yes, exactly the same happened here too.  It works now. I can only assume word has got out and the site is either experiencing a heavy traffic flow or maintenance was being done at your particular time of viewing.

        The link is:

Thanks for letting me know....I have edited my initial posting and added another way, which is possibly the correct way to view the new website. Also by googling you will find two videos added to 'youtube' website which are also on the sewstylish site.

I really enjoyed the information found in the links on the website's lower right hand corner!

      That's great!

I'm sure a lot of areas on the site will appeal to not only the new sewers but also to the more experienced.

I rely a lot on overseas information. Australia does have its Australian Stitches Magazine and other sewing sites, however I am drawn more to the ideas and designers from the states.

I received my premier issue yesterday and am quite pleased.   I've only read the first third but already found several items that interest me - especially the purse covered in buttons in a geometric design with leather trim.  I simply must make that bag!

Like another poster said I definately believe this magazine will appeal to experienced sewers as well as beginners.  (I consider myself an advanced sewer.)

I just checked out the website and subscribed to Sew Stylish.   Threads is the only magazine I subscribe to on a consistent basis (I have all the mags since #1) so I hope Sew Stylish becomes a favorite for me as well.  I might add that I'm in my upper fifties but want to keep stylish.

Great news! And good to hear from you. Now I am really itching to receiving my first copy.

It was I who commented on the magazines appeal to all. Going by what I viewed on the website I hoped the magazine would also show this. Thank you for your comments. I consider myself to be an advanced sewer, 'self taught'. I have followed books and videos, and help from mother-in-law, but never done a course.

Good on you for being honest, and proud to be stylish in your fifities! I am only 36 but do look to those mature ladies who do have such grace and choose garments to suit their lifestyle, working life, personality, in their chosen RTW or made by themselves garments to get the perfect personal fit.

Hi!  Thanks for the referral!  The first thing I found was an article showing the Flexible Curve:  a tool to use in order to get the shape of each person's individual crotch curve and, therefore, alter one pant pattern accordingly!

I was the one who started the "Mature Pant Fit" thread earlier and it looks like I'm heading to Joann's to get one of these!  Gadget Gurus take note!

        1. Cherrypops | | #12

          Hi Nansi,

          That's great news!

I have a similar tool. My mother-in-law gave me her whole 'Sure Fit Designs' set (similar to Lutterloh, I believe).

My tool is not an 's' shape as seen on  http://www.conselle.com. It is a flexible plastic type sheet with printed ruler and arrows. I am able to do the back/front crotch, hip curve, back neck curve, armscye for dress/shirt, following instructions given in the booklets.

          # I have just found the flexi curve on the besewstylish website.# and where to purchase it from.

When time permits I will actually start using the set.

My magazine was shipped two weeks ago. Like 'Threads' it takes about 10weeks to arrive in Australia. I have patience.

Please let us know in the 'Mature Pants Fit' how you are going. I'll head over now to catch up.

          Cheers, :)CherryP

I have to chime in if that is ok!!You said Gadget Gurus...Well as you will find in the first Pages of the new Mag. "What's your Sewing Sign" You might profile yourself as the "Notions Nerd" This is so funny I just had to laugh so this is my confessionI am a " Notion's Nerd, Fabric Fiend, and finally a Completely Incomplete" Well I might have a smidge of a few more but those are me!! I loved this!! and the great part of about this was the fact that after the little profiling they directed you to something in the mag for you that you would find of interest or intervention who knows! ha haWell Just thought I would add that so you have a new name for yourself!!Blondie

Thanks Blondie!  I am a grandma but like to think I'm stylish wearing well fitting garments and colors that compliment my coloring.  People seem to enjoy the bright colors I wear as I always receive compliments.   I say, "down with drab and shapeless garments!"
