I got around to making some of those great gift boxes that were in Threads #104 (When the Gift is the Gift Wrap). Here is a photo of the two I made for a school auction. I can’t wait to see some of the reactions (I got a couple of baffled ones when I delivered them to the school office).
For the blue one I used the end of a plastic zipper from a sports bag I had made (I bought another pull from the outdoor fabric store I had bought the zipper-by-the-yard originally). I had a few of these… so I made a total of 4 bags. My kids took them to use as beany baby tents.
The black and white cow fabric used a white zipper I recycled from some baby clothing. It is lined with pink poly satin.

Nice job. Were they fun to make?
Thanks.
Yes, they were. It was a way to use up scrap bits of zippers and fabric.
The blue is made from leftover Cordura, a backpack fabric that is a bit stiff.
I made these as well. They were remarkably easy to do. I'm gonna try the new box/pillbox pillows on the current Threads webpage as well.
These are terrific! They look like they were fun to make.
Those are fabulous! Can you imagine the cow print one with a cow or pig or chicken beanie baby?!
Gee, thanks all of you!.
You all have made my Thanksgiving (which now includes two sick kids!).
I made a whole bunch of these for my son's school. They have a lovely tradition where the birthday child brings a little gift for each of the other children, and I confess that it gets my competitive juices flowing a little bit. Anyway, I bought zippers by the yard and some extra zipper pulls, and then put a little tassel on each zipper pull. Finally, I put a polished rock or something similar in each one (as the "gift"). Fun and fast and put me one up on the other moms! ;-)
