I’ve been a subscriber of ‘Threads for many years, but have acquired all the issues, and have learned so much from your articles.
The directions,illustrations and photos are concise and an excellent aide.
The fitting/problem articles answered by Karen Howland are a good feautre, as are the ‘Questions’, Tips, and Basic features.
The recently added contributors biography is interesting to read, how they started and their travels thru “threaded” carrers.
I would like to see more articles on tailoring and advanced sewing.
Not having accessible local sources to advance my sewing skills ‘Threads’ has been my classroom.
There are many publications available for knitting, quilting and needlework; also many of the TV sewing programs have ceased or switched focus to quilting and machine embroidery.
The back covers are a delight, giving a glimpse of past splendor in style, technique and fabric.

I agree with the previous post. I value Threads most for not adopting the "make it easily and quickly" attitude of other craft/quilting/sewing magazines. I know how to make the easy things and look forward to learning difficult techniques. I also value the style inspiration very much. Threads is both my fashion and sewing inspiration.
I do not value very much the articles about quilting or decorating, the first because it is well covered by other magazines, the second because it is relatively simple.
I live in a small city where fabrics are sold mostly by discount and craft stores, and while I value the wonderful online fabric stores I recently discovered, nothing replaces holding fabric in my hand. So, when I travel to a big city, I always hope to visit a good fabric store. What I would really like to see is either a section of the website dedicated to reviewing a few of the better or bigger fabric stores in large metropolitan areas or a listing or article on the same subject from time to time showing the resources of a large city. Useful information would include: specialty (decorator, high end fashion, quilting, discount...), size of the stock in bolts, address and web site. No value judgment is necessary: I just want to know that I am going to visit a store that is worth my while and fits my interest.
One thing that would make me even happier than reading Threads would be to do so every month. Keep up your good work! Your magazine is fabulous.
I've moved this discussion into "Talk with Us" in case anyone else wants to join in. Meanwhile, in response to this and the "Travelogue" discussion--how I wish we could travel the nation and review fabric stores for you. I'd be the first to sign up for that job (although my family might not like my being gone for so long). But given the limitations on editorial time, we don't have plans to send out a roving reporter just yet. Maybe the thing to do is set up a discussion under "Fabric" where people can post names and addresses of good (and bad) fabric stores.
