Threads ‘Clone Your Own Fitting Assis…

I loved this article and am planning to give the idea a try. The duct tape methods looked simpler, but when I got to thinking about having to pin into the dress form (to make a sloper), I realized I’d be gumming up all my pins.

So I’ve decided to do the version that uses paper tape, but now can’t find the issue. What kind of tape did the author recommend?

You need to use the gummed paper tape - the type that you have to wet. I had trouble finding it at the local office supply places. Finally got it through the mail but can't remember the place.

We bought the 2 inch wide tape and precut strips of both 2 inch and 1 inch widths. The narrower widths are used where you have more curves.

*Lynn--I just got a bunch of the gummed paper tape (I have a nice commercial form, but needed something more precise for a very fitted bodice) -- I got mine from National Business Products, http://www.nbpinc.com/, and the item # is UFS2163. $3.88 a roll and from what I hear you need far less than a full roll. at that price I went ahead and picked up a couple rolls for future use. Cut 1" strips in front of a movie and filled a box with them. Of course there were tons of helpful details on Sewing World which is now on it's "break" and I didn't print them out or save them....Now to just see if the form works...Sarah
