Threads for Wool Garments

d4divine | Posted in Couture on

Hello!
I am making a medium weight
wool cape midi length. I want to use the best thread possible for strength and a high-end garment look. What type of thread should I use? Silk? Polyspun? Google has my head spinning.

I use polyester or nylon. Both are strong and do not shrink. Cotton can shrink and distort the garment. Silk is great for detailing but may or may not be strong enough for the total garment. Test the length of your stitch. Generally longer than for cotton but depends on thickness of the fabric. The thicker, the longer the stitch.
    Happy sewing...
