I currently sew with a Bernina 1130 (13 years old) Recently had my first difficulty with this machine. My Bernina dealer lent me a 1630 to use while my machine is being repaired. I am considering selling my 1130 and buying the 1630. Of course my dealer would love to sell me the 1630. I am wondering if any of you can tell me you opionion of either machine. Before I fork over $1,500 I am trying to determine if the differences in the machines is worth spending the money or am I simply intrigued by the newer model? Bernine doesn’t manufacture either of these machines anymore. What to do?

No, no, no! Don't get rid of the 1130! You didn't say what kind of problem you are having, but if it can be repaired - hold on to it. The 1130 is now considered one of Bernina's "classic" machines. I'm sure your dealer would just love for you to trade it in - she probably has a waiting list!
