Does anyone know if ultrasuade is washable or is it better to dry clean it?

*Ultrasuede is machine washable and dryable. You should NOT use fabric softener with Ultrasuede. I have seen recommendations that Ultrasuede not be dry-cleaned but I don't know why. When Ultrasuede is laundered is will be a little softer than originally but it comes out very nicely. I would only launder Ultrasuede when it really needs it and spot clean it in-between. To spot clean ultrasuede I use a scrap self fabric and dip it into a dish of water with little dish-detergent added and rub the spot until clean. Then I use a dry piece of self-fabric and rub the same area to dry it a little and to feather the edges of the wet spot so that when it drys there will be no water ring. Allow to air dry, it seems to take a long time to dry. I use this spot cleaning method often even on my cream colored Ultrasuede garments.[Ultrasuede is a registered brand name.] No affiliation to Ultrasuede, but I sew with it.Paula White
