underlining choice

happy2sew | Posted in Fabric and Trim on

Can polyester organza be used for underlining a strapless bodice, or must I always use silk organza?  Fashion fabric is polyester crepe backed satin.

Of course you can use polyester organza. It is a bit crisper, so be sure you like the effect, but there really isn't any reason that you couldn't use it.

If I were making a dress of silk, I'd use silk organza just because it breathes better. But since the dress is polyester, you won't gain anything by using silk underlining--go with polyester. It's easier to find and less expensive.

      Thank you. That makes sense.
