I have my vest almost finished…work gets in the way. I’m sewing on sequins right now. I made it out of a vintage sari and have enough left over for a top to wear under it, although I wonder if I’ll ever wear this. I used Kayla’s pattern….it went together easily….most of the time was in the cutting out. The silk is slippery and I was working on placement as the sari was embroidered and I wanted the embroideries in specific spots.

I can't wait to see it! It sounds wonderful. I'm partway through mine, too...but as I think about some of the quilted sections I'm planning, I'm getting worried that it will look like a bunch of potholders stuck together. So I'm stalling a bit and rethinking it...but do we get extra credit for using stash fabric?
Carol
yes...I think you get double points for using out of your stash. :o)
I think some of your stash is at my house. rjf
It is?! I hope it's good stuff!

I am getting inspired to work with my sari fabric after reading your post and would love to see the finished piece. Is your vest long or short? Also what are the specific rules on this particular challenge? Is this the one that was listed in the last issue of Threads?
This challenge was posted on Creative Machiine at Quiltropolis.com.
We are to make a modular vest and that is the begining and end of the rules. I used a pattern by Kayla Kennington and am in the process of sewing sequins on now. The deadline is Feb 14. I will make a matching top after the challenge.
BTW..I made a patchwork skirt and jacket with purse for my 7 yr old DGD out of an old sari for Christmas.
