Viking #1+ vs. newer machine advice
I’m a beginner and want embroidery. Is the Viking #1+ (used) with customizing software and several cards a decent deal at $1500 or would buying a new Platinum Plus without customizing (or some other new machine) be better? I’m not sure which machine is a higher quality machine. I know the used machine was well cared for and was used a lot.

Dear Michelle,
I have a Viking #1+ and think it is a terrific machine. I do not know much about the Platinum; I upgraded to a Designer I and kept my #1+ for my daughter because I couldn't see getting rid of it. I personally feel the Viking is a solid machine, easy to use and does beautiful embroidery. As for the price, I would say $1500 seems like a reasonable amount considering you are getting customizing and extra cards. Are you getting the card reader also? You will need it in order to take designs from customizing to the sewing machine. Good luck with your decision!

Thanks for responding...I did buy the machine. It came with the reader/writer, a couple of blank cards and 20 design cards so I'm pretty happy. I haven't even had a chance to learn about the embroidery part of it as I'm just now learning about the sewing features. I think I'm going to be real happy with the purchase.
