Viking software-dongle problem

foster | Posted in General Discussion on

Is there anyone who has the Viking 3D embroidery software? I have worked into the early morning trying to install it on my lap top. The dongle will not be recognized by the program. But my compluter has no problem dinging when I plug it in. Thus, am I not doing something or is the program bad. Frustrated and tired, I have tried all my tricks with no success. Thanks, Wanda

Wanda what operating system are you using on your computer?  If you are not using something earlier than XP that may be the problem.  Sometimes with the older systems it does not get recognized as easily by the 3D software.  The ding that you are hearing is your computer recognizing something being plugged in.  Another silly question are you sure you are using the Dongle and not the USB stick for design storage?  The Dongle is shorter than the design stick.  Do you have 2 USB ports? I ask this because when you installed the software like with other software products  sometimes the system will ask you which USB port you will use for this product.  Try plugging into the other port.  If this doesn't work then plug the Dongle in and reboot your computer.  This should solve your problem.  Lastly if this doesn't work try plugging into the other port and again rebooting.  After you have tried all of this and you still cannot get the system to recognize the dongle, it could be possible that you have a bad Dongle call your dealer that sold you the product.  Good luck and let me know what happens.

SewTri Terry, Do you have the 3D Proffesional by Viking? If so, what is your opinion of the software? So far, I have been involved with the computer part of the program and have just today become able to actually sew from the program. Do you digitize?I have heard that this is the hardest part of the software to learn.

Thanks you so much! I am now up and running; I went to my first class today and had a great time. The time flew by and I learned so much. I appreciate your help. Thanks, Wanda

No I do not have the software yet but because I work at a Viking Sewing Gallery I get to "play" with it when at "work". I do have the Plus software that preceded this and yes  I do digitize.  I took a class with Lindee Goodall several years ago on digitizing and just love it. It really opens a lot of doors. I am glad that you got your software up and running and hope to see some things from you in the very near future.

SewTruTerry, do you know if I can use the Monogram Wizard Plus on my Viking 1+ sewing maching? I have the 3D Professional and it does have many fonts, but monograming is important to me since I have five grandchildren. Later when I have learned the 3D software, I would like to upgrade machine....maybe a Designer l. What is you opinion? Thanks, Wanda
