I just had to share my recent ebay find – a pair of vintage pattern magazines, one German and one Austrian. My guess is these are probably the precursor to BWOF. Each has illustrations of the garments and all the patterns. After seeing these pattern sheets and the lack of sewing instructions, I will look at my BWOF patterns and instructions with new-found appreciation!!! I guess it won’t matter that I do not speak or read German! One of the mags is from 1951, the other from 1942 – great sources of wonderful vintage looks with a European flair. I may have to rearrange my project line-up and insert one of these.

Wow - what a find! Great styles! Copying the pattern pieces is another matter, though - it could drive you to drink - or make you go cross-eyed! Let us know if you decide to try one.

How cool is that! Congratulations on a great find. I hope you post pics once you make something.

ETA: If you run into a real problem and need some instuction help there seems to be a large German following on Pattern Review. You could probably post a question there and get help pretty quickly. Good luck!

What a great find, you are so lucky! I love those styles, I just wish I had the waistline to pull off all the fullness in the garments from those days! My favorite: the picture of the 3 long dress coats... WOW!
Thank goodness for color ink... those tracing lines look like a headache waiting to happen, so good luck! Keep us posted!

How lucky are you to find these!! I am so envious lol
The neckline on the dress on the right reminds me of the neckline on the convertible dress in another post. So elegant the styles are. What a great find!
What fun! Cathy
