Vionnet-inspired circle skirt calculations
I’m trying to make a circle skirt using the pattern in Threads #214, which has an unusual approach to sewing the skirt.
I’m confused by the yoke calculations, however. The back yoke radius is calculated using 1/2 the waist circumference. The front yoke instructions say to calculate the front yoke radius with 2/3 the waist circumference, but the diagram says to use 1/2 the waist circumference. The diagram of the pieces on page 65 seems to indicate that the front yoke is 2/3, not 1/2, of the total yoke.
Which is it? Is the back yoke 1/2 of the total waist circumference or 1/3? Is the front 1/2 or 2/3? If the back is 1/2 and the front is 2/3, is the total waist circumference really bigger than the actual waist circumference?
Thanks!

I usually used to rule that the front yoke should be about 1 inch smaller than the back yoke. the top is equal to the waist and the bottom is equal to the hips
Hi Gozermom, the back yoke is 1/2 of a circle and its inner seamline circumference is equal to 1/2 of the waistline circumference.
The front yoke is 3/4 of a circle, and its inner seamline circumference is also equal to 1/2 of the waist circumference.
In essence, you're drawing a smaller circle for the front yoke, but then you use more of it.
