I made a box pleats skirt with a side zipper. My issue is the waistband is too tight in front but I can stick my fingers through in the back.

Waistband issues
I'm not sure how the waistband can be too tight in the front and looser in the back, since it's a circle. I've seen this happen with jeans, but that's because they are so fitted. With a skirt that has box pleats, it seems the waistband would adjust itself. What am I missing here?
