want swimsuit fabric?

nmog | Posted in General Discussion on

I am looking to get rid of some swimsuit fabric and no one I know sews bathing suits, so I thought I would try here. I’ll send the fabric to you and pay shipping. I’d just like to see it go to a good home! I live in Alberta, Canada and I’d prefer to send it to someone closer rather than far away.
I have 1.3 m (51 inches) of black fabric that has yellow, pink and purple flowers on it. This fabric is textured – it has vertical stripes, almost like ribbing, running through it. I also have the leftovers from a suit I made a year ago. It’s a blue/aqua border print that has hibiscus flowers and other flowers running from about 8 inches (just guessing) from each selvedge. I have 1 metre (40 inches) of that. I also have small pieces of coordinating fabric for each of these, and a large piece of white (satiny) one way stretch, too. If anyone can use these, please let me know and I’ll be glad to send them away!

I'm interested! And, best of all, I'm not too far away....I live in Sherwood Park. I just bought a pattern making book that covers swimsuits and was thinking that I was going to have to hit Fanny's Fabrics to try to find some appropriate fabric to experiment with. If you're interested in sending any or all of it my way, respond to me via email and I'll pass along my address. Thanks!

    BTW, Happy Thanksgiving!

Sounds good! I'm on my fifth 'muslin' for my first post-baby suit. I'm hoping that if I just blink really fast, everything will go back to where it was!

I got most of my fabric for the first few attempts at Fabricland. They have some very ugly but serviceable fabric that was $4/m. It was in one of those wire bins they have.

I'll send this fabric your way - do you want the one way stretch stuff, too?

        Sure....Knowing me, I'll find a use for it ;-)

And, good luck at the post-baby body. I'm still wishing everything would go back to where it started....and my kids are 17 and 16! Not to mention the running, weight lifting etc. Middle-age spread is taking over, no matter how much I fight it!

I've already put the material in a shoe box, so if you send me your info I can get it to you this week. However, with the gov't strike, a package that I was supposed to get from the US in four days still hasn't arrived (four weeks later). When I called the post office they said they were delayed three weeks. I'll try to put a tracking number on it if it isn't lots extra - maybe I can insure it.

          Talk to you soon!

You aren't going to believe this, but the parcel just arrived!!!!! Thank you, thank you. You have fabulous taste. I particularly like the black textured fabric and the blue wth hibiscus flowers. I have to look and compare, but the white stretch satin looks suspiciously like the fabric I bought to make bras with. Mind you, a piece this size could keep me in bras for years to come!

Again, I appreciate you sending this my way. Since you wouldn't let me pay for the postage, please let me take you out for coffee next time I'm out your way. Thank you so much!

It's great that you got the package so quickly! The red/green fabric was leftover from my 'samples' - it's ugly, but useful for playing around. Let me know next time you're in Calgary - coffee sounds like a great idea, and I may have more fabric then...!

            Okay, you're on! <big grin>
