HI WHAT ARE GOOD WATERPROOF Fabric and vinyl fabrics, and where do i buy them online?any advice is welcome; i’m in the “pacific northwest” and it would help my shopping to buy online,as I have no car right now(actually i no longer drive.) I have friends with cars.(IO’m not crazy to shop in Portland, however; the state of politics makes it too uncomfortable. This is fabric for sewing outerwear. thanks!!:)

Try moodfabrics.com
Just put a search in for waterproof fabrics. Their stock varies, but usually has a variety to choose from. They give a good description, tech info, and yardage available. You can also order generous swatches of possibilities. Mood ships quickly.
Or just Google waterproof fabrics.
You could try thegreenpepper.com, the Rain Shed, owfinc., and seattlefabrics.com. Most of these sites have fabrics and the zippers/hardware you may need. Most have patterns and sewing tips on their sites as well. Sometimes you can find suitable remnants and sales.
Nylon taffeta with a special coating is definitely waterproof – This is the material used frequently to make rain umbrellas, patio umbrellas etc. It has a smooth weave and a sheen on its surface Umbrella fabric is a lightweight, tightly woven water repellent nylon fabric. You can get a variety of dyed and printed umbrella fabrics.
