Does any one know where I can buy the wedding dress patterns that are featured in wedding dress magazines. I have checked all of the usual pattern companies and without a lot of alterations they fall short. I have 4 full skirted, draped bodice dresses to make and I am looking to save myself a lot of time. Thanks Margery

I don't think you are going to find the exact dress in pattern for the dresses that you see in the magazines as the dresses in the mags are designer dresses and most of those designers do not put out patterns. You would be better off finding 1 or 2 that are close or taking the bodice from one and the skirt from another to get the look that you want. I know that is not what you wanted to hear but that is why those dresses can run a couple of thousand dollars each. Good luck.
Thanks for taking the time Terry. I sort of knew this would be the answer but I thought it was worth asking any way. I guess I was just being lazy.

"I guess I was just being lazy"....
It's not lazy...it's time-saving! rjf
You are never lazy when you are actively sewing or just thinking about your next project. And to want to get a pattern is not lazy it is time conservation. I make a lot of my own patterns because I can never find what I want so I know how much time is used in making the pattern and if you are talking about a bridal party the time is the most important thing to think about. But another question that I have for you because I don't remember if you put it in your last post or not but are you doing this for your daughters wedding or are you being paid to do this job?
You might try Marfy....they have some really beautiful dresses, and they are closer in style to what you see in the bridal mags. Go to http://www.marfy.it and click on "English version", then go to the "Sposa" catalog for a sampling of what they have. The catalog is pricey (about $25 American), and the patterns are one-size (you choose the size), and they come with no assembly instructions, but the styling is gorgeous!

Dear Shannon. As we say in Australia "you little ripper!!" Have had a quick look at the site and it is just perfect! My dear little brides are really asking me to copy dresses that are thousands to buy from the local shops and the small cost of obtaining a good pattern is nothing in the grand scheme of things. Thank you, thank you, thank you !
Cheers, Margery
Glad you liked it! Isn't their sense of style amazing?
Send photos if you make anything wonderful:)

Have ordered catalogue and wait with great anticipation! My 2 most difficult brides are under control at the moment, but you never know what the next phone call will bring

Dear Terry
Thanks for your reply, yes I do have my own little sewing business and work usually 6 1/2 days a week so I was definatly trying to save myself time. As it happened I bit the bullet and put together my own pattern and was very pleased to find that the first toile was pretty dam close. So with that one well on its way to being finished I have only another 4 or 5 to do. Thanks again,Cheers, Margery
