I’m creating a wedding dress for a client; simple, simple full length
dreess with a scoop neck, sleeveless, fitted bodice, gored skirt made of
silk satin. The bride wants some kind of interesting sash – she doesn’t
want a pleated cumberband, but hasn’t ruled out any other ideas. Anyone out
there have suggestions for the sash? Tha

How about a length of white silk chiffon, wrapped once and tied in the back (not in a bow) with the ends coming down to the hem in the back. Use the whole width of the material, you would only have to hem the cut ends. Maybe sprinkle the ends with some tiny, tiny crystals so it sparkles.
*What about making a mufti-strand braided sash of the satin (made into cording) intertwined with another corded satin or chiffon or ribbons? It could also have a strand of pearl-like beads as one of the of the components, or add pearls, beads, or crystals scattered over the finished braid. The ends can trail the back and be as slim or full as you like. Does this bride want to accent the waist, or just have some thing to break up the length of the dress? This sash might also be the spot to incorporate a "something old" if there is some fabric or ribbon from a family heirloom that could be included.
