What are some embellishments that would be suitable for a wedding dress?

Taunton_Web | Posted in Embellishments on

Looking for ideas on how to embellish a wedding dress. What techniques or embellishment types would add interest but not be too “over the top”?

Thanks!

As always, pearls, lace, and beads. But do not forget truponto., it can add simple elegance. And if a very faint color is added under the truponto it pops. Also added applique using silk dupioni. The tune changes with movement and gives life to the dress.

Ooh, good question. I feel as if almost any type of embellishment could be adapted to the occasion, in the right colorway and scale. I want to add crystals, although that might be getting into the "over the top" category for some! There are some great options in machine embroidery. Custom machine embroidered lace is beautiful and unique - we've done some articles on that, as well as dimensional machine embroidery.
