I’ve just received an email suggesting that if I want to subscribe to Threads i could receive 3 free gifts!!
i’m already a subscriber – do i qualify or not?
if i dont qualify – does that mean that my money isn’t that necessary?
This really bugs me – particularly as I wouldn’t have minded one of the freebies on offer!!
Is anyone else having the same email? – If so – could Threads award us for already subscribing?
Just pondering!!

Yes, I got this email too. It is particularly funny at the moment. I don't mind not getting the free gifts. BUT, as I have a current subscription but have yet to receive issues 126 or 127, all I really want from my subscription is the magazines I have paid for. I haven't yet encountered an australian subscriber who has received either issue (although issue 126 has been on the newsstands for weeks). There are a few grumpy postings on Gatherings, but the postings on the "sewing downunder" discussion board on Patternreview are a bit more, how shall I say, "frank"? Some posters to that discussion have reproduced the email responses they have received from Taunton Customer Service, which could provide considerable material for a comedy script.
I have been thinking ---- if I cancel my subscription, then resubscribe, and get the gifts, will I actually get copies of Threads as well? (or would that just be a suprirse bonus?)

Hi Susannah - I live in N Wales and as yet have got all my copies asap - I do see a new edition in the shops just before I get mine. I realise you might not want to hear this - a bit like rubbing salt in the wound - but I assume mine comes airmail and Ive subscribed for only about 3 years now. It is poor if they cant get it to you - freebie or not!!

Apparently there has been a major glitch at Taunton in July - and the usual good service to Australia has fallen into a black hole. The advantage of being a subscriber in Australia was that we got our copies fairly quickly, but for some reason issues 126 doesn't seem to have arrived at all, and 127 has also been delayed/lost in transit. Taunton have said that they are changing carriers to address this, so I am optimistic that issue 128 will arrive in accordance with the normal schedule. In the mean time, the customer service people have told me they will be sending my two missing copies by airmail, for which I am very grateful.
If the postings on the various discussion boards are anything to go by, the customer service people have had a pretty significant workload lately! It must be pretty frustrating for them as well!
