what to face a denim skirt with at the waist, No band.

denise | Posted in General Sewing Info on

i like to line my skirts but this one for my daughter is a lovley soft denim,.

Any suggestions for turning under the waist area, as i usually use my lining as facing.

If i lined the skirt it would not have the movement in it that the denim has.

any ideas please

    Denim waistband facing

Try facing it with wide grosgrain ribbon

    Denim Facing

    Hello Denise.

I would face the skirt with the denim that you are using, that way the panels are matching rather than having a contrast panel facing the original denim, If you have a contrast panel as a facing you may see the contrast peaking up above the outer denim slightly. The denim facing would be lightly fused and attached to the lining giving the garment a professional finish.

I hope that this helps you.

Good luck in your project and happy sewing.
