Wheelchair Clothing Patterns
Does anyone have a source for patterns for wheelchair-bound people?
I am looking specifically for a man’s pants pattern with an elastic waist in a large size – 43″ waist and 50″ hips. I know they require a higher back waist and roomier seat, but I don’t have the time to draft and fit a pattern from scratch right now.
Just received a "care" package from a fellow gatherings member that had an article about accommodating wheel chair and disabled individuals. It goes back to 1998 and listed several pattern resources. The PRIDE Foundation curently exists and its website is <http://www.designlinc.com/organiz2.htm>
Two others that I didn't have time to check are: http://www.blvd.com out of Virginia and Iowa State University Extension Distribution Center.
hope these are helpful. Z
My brother is wheelchair bound. For the most part he prefers to just wear rtw sweatpants. You may want to check that out if you're really in a hurry. Or, a sweatpant pattern would be simple and it wouldn't be a difficult alteration to lengthen the back waist measurement a bit.
thanks for the info but it should be going to Felicity. My response was a reply to her request. I shall try to forward it on. Z
Ooops! I'm sorry. Didn't mean to pop in uninvited!
No apology necessary. You were not "uninvited". Everyone responds to everything and anything they can. That's the beauty of the "gatherings." I just wanted to make sure the information got to the right requester who needed it, and I wanted to make sure you got "credit" for it. Z
Here's a forwarded message from thimbles 1260, directed to me in error. Zuwena"My brother is wheelchair bound. For the most part he prefers to just wear rtw sweatpants.
