Before the Big Christmas Crash (never mind, happens to the best people) there was a discussion about pattern drafting software, in particular the Wild Ginger products, which seems to have got lost. I am getting seriously interested in Wild Ginger. Advice please!

I've had Pattern Master Boutique for well over a year now and am very pleased with the way the program drafts patterns and the excellent customer service of Wild Ginger Softwear. There is a discussion list available to owners of the softwear and right now beta testing is taking place on version 2 of Patternmaster Boutique. The new version should come out in March or April and is going to be really neat - it will have a pattern editor and yardage calculator along with drafting a huge number of styles to your measurements. The program is very easy to use. Almost any style you can dream up you can create with Pattern Master Boutique.

*I think I am one of the few people who doesn't like Pattern Master Boutique. I think it takes too long to make the patterns, just as long as it takes to alter them manually, because they have to be tiled and trued (I don't have a dot matrix printer). I also find the style selection too limited. I have the new version and find the pattern editor too time consuming to use. Trueing by hand is faster for me than using the editor.

*I am extremely interested in seeing the new version of Wild Ginger. I have been trying to down load the demo of the new version, with no success. I get a message - "CRC Parameter incorrect." I am fairly new to computers and was wondering if anyone else was having problems downloading or if this is a problem with my computer (or my lack of understanding) HELP!

*Debbie, you're not the only one dissatisfied with PatternMaster. I am too. After using it exclusively for 7 months now I've managed to make just one dress that I'd actually wear in public. But there are many who swear by it (not at it like me) so I too am in the minority. It's a great concept, though, that I just can't seem to master. I thought that once my measurements were accurate, I was good to go. Not so. There are always modifications to the measurements necessary depending on cut, fabric type, ease, etc. They can have it. I'm back to store-bought patterns.

*Has anyone used the new Click & Sew "Patterns" from Wild Ginger? I was in the new http://www.patternshowcase.com site and saw that they are available there.

*I bought the Click and Sew dresses pattern. So far, I've used it for a t-shirt and princess seamed blouse pattern. Stuff actually fits and I was so excited I bought PMB. It should arrive sometime this week. For the price, I was really happy with Click and Sew (just greedy for more styles).

*Thanks Denise - I'm going to order the one for jackets and play around with it.
