I do flat pattern designing so just use a dress form for hanging stuff on while I’m making it. Just wanted to know out of pure curiosity – why is advantageous to have a dress form with collapsible shoulders?

It allows you to get finished garments on and off the dressform, as well as drape strapless styles, as you do this with the shoulder collapsed.
