A number of years ago I purchased one for my sister-in-law. She was without a machine, and I took the opportunity to send her one of those 'school machines' advertised in the newspaper.
What a mistake. She spent more money trying to have it repaired (and she's a very accomplished mechanical sort herself) than it cost to buy it. It wouldn't keep the timing correct, and in the end, she placed it in a dumpster.
I wouldn't spend a red cent on another Necci machine.

Ditto the above experience. What a useless, frustrating, wimp machine! It balks at going through anything heavier than a handkerchief and creates maddening jams at the slightest hint of work. I spent more time messing with pulling it apart and straightening it out than I ever did actually sewing on it. My BP is up just thinking about it!
Ditto from someone whose family has owned dozens of sewing machines-- Necchi spells "disaster"! Sleek and beautiful, like Italian race cars, the ones we had were tempermental beasts that refused to cooperate on the simplest projects; the correct bobbins and needles were hard to find, too.
