Working on your February projects ?

damascusannie | Posted in Quilting and Home Decor on

How is everyone doing with their February projects? I’m still working on a quilt for a client and have another pinned and ready for quilting as soon as this one’s done.

I’ve been working on the applique borders on my black and batik quilt in the evenings and on weekend afternoons and I’ll finish border #2 tonight; just one more leaf to add! I have to remember to make more bias tape for the vines for side 3 before I leave the studio this evening. I’m hoping against hope to finish this quilt in time for a show in May.

    Hi:

I've finished my Betty Boop log cabin block "quilt top" (pink, white & Black) and made a signature "quilt top" wall hanging for a fellow co-worker Sunday morning for signing at the retirement party that afternoon.  I have emphasized "quilt top" because they are not sandwiched, nor quilted.  Will be finishing soon.

I'm excited because I actually finished a quilt for ME yesterday. It's a block exchange top that I pieced three years ago and I've been schlepping to demonstrations as a sampler for free motion quilting. I finished the last of the quilting this week, slapped a binding on it and slept under it last night. What a great feeling!

Awesome girl, that was a great feeling, wasn't it?  You did good.  I have some other quilt tops that I've made and haven't finished, but the retirement wall hanging must be done within the next few weeks.  The others need to be done ASAP.  So I will get through them all.

        Good Job!

It's always best if you have a deadline. I really needed to get this quilt done by this weekend's quilting retreat as bedding is at a bit of a premium around here. Just wish I had time to work on more my UFOs--oh well, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for my custom quilting business and then I'll be able to quilt for ME....and friends....and family...So, maybe not for me! I got some great "Dick and Jane at the farm" retro fabric for our godson's baby, due in June. Can't wait to get started on that quilt!

Wow. sounds like fun.  I've never seen Dick and Jane fabric.

I hadn't seen it before either, but it's just perfect for a gender-neutral baby quilt in fun bright colors instead of insipid pastels. Annie

Well, I'm going to try. My digital camera has to go back to the factory for repairs so we're going to see what we can get with my daughter's cell phone.
